Filoli Gardens

I shot these images near the end of 2011 it was the second time I had worked with HDR and I was not happy with them. I went back and reworked them and here they are. They are shot at Filoli Gardens in Woodside California, the mansion was built for William Bowers Bourn II between 1915 and 1917. The name Filoli is an acronym for "Fight for a just cause; Love your fellow man; Live a good life." The mansion was designed by Willis Polk, that is actually how I found out about Filoli. I was at Empire Mines State Park talking to one of the rangers about the mansion and she said if I liked the mansion at Empire mines I had to go to Filoli Gardens (owned by the same family and also designed by Willis Polk). The exterior of the Filoli mansion was used in the television show Dynasty.

Mack, International, Ford, Moreland, Transport and a few unidentified trucks

Here a few more shots from the salvage yard in Toppenish, Washington. I found old makes that still exist to day like Mack, International, Ford and a couple I did not know like Moreland and Transport. If anyone knows the makes of the other trucks would you please let me know Thanks.

On the left is Mack Bulldog and on the right is an International.

There is a Ford on the left and Mack Bulldog in the center and an International on the right.
This is a Moreland the company was started by Watt L. Moreland in 1917 an lasted until 1940. The company was located in Burbank, California.

I do not know the make of this truck, but just above the windshield is the word "union".

The goats in the background came out of the brush on my first visit and scared me.

On the door it says "S-H Garage PHW 3348 7321 E. Sprague Spokane" I looked up the address which is about 215 miles away. I assume the PHW 3348 was the phone number and I could not locate the exact address. I thought it would be interesting to find out what was there now.
The truck on the right is a Transport, I could not find any information on the company.

Reiff's Station

I visited Reiffs Station in Woodland California it is Mark Reiff's home filled with vintage gas pumps, signs and many other collectibles. He has turned his house into museum that captures the past of the service stations, burger joints, a movie theater as well as an unfortunate voyage of a plane and car. I saw many gas pumps from Shell, Mobile, Chevron, Texaco, SinclairSunset, Sun Ray, Gilmore Oil Company of California that started in 1936 (which was purchased by Socony-Vacuum in 1940) and later became the Mobilgas, Sky Chief (Texaco), Beacon, Gulftane (Gulf merged with Standard Oil in 1985), Richfield, Flying A (Tide Water Petroliun founded in 1887 in New York) and Go Farther. The gas pumps he has were manufactured by Erie, Tokheim, Bennett, Wayne and National.

He has vintage signs from Standard Oil, Union Oil, Phillips 66Magnolia Petroleum Company, Socony,  Aircraft Oil, Sunoco, Macmillan Ring Free OilWolfs Head Oil, Royal Triton Motor Oil, Nic L Silver Battery'sTydol Gasoline, D-X GasolineSkellyHavoline, Firestone TiresCooper Tires, Fisk Tire, Holman Scales, Sunbeam BreadBlatz Beer, Coco Cola, Thirsty Just Whistle Soda, Carling Black Lable BeerTeem Soft Drink and Kik Soft drink (1995).

In the driveway he has a Milton Driveway Bell (which I stepped on a couple of times and it scared me), old Penzzoil oil cans, Coke and Pepsi in wooden boxes and glass bottles. On the roof he has a Bob's Big Boy statue. In a bar he has an antique National Cash Register.

His movie theater has a marquee with Rebel Without A Cause a poster from West Side Story and Tucker.
