Ebbetts Pass

I set out for Mono Lake and the ghost town of Bodie on 395 in the eastern Sierras. I headed over Ebbetts Pass and had no idea what a treat I was in for I was amazed as I wound along Highway 4. The road narrows and has no center line. At one point I turned around several times stopping every 100 yards or so. The image below is what made me stop the first time.

All The images above were taken within a hundred yards and many more were there. I see another trip in the future. The images below are cow camp. The horses are right next to the left building and were not willing to cooperate maybe next time.

This was a hard shot to get but I wanted to get a shot of what I saw from the road. I have came across a quite a few chimneys that were still standing without a house. I love the mystery of a lone standing chimney. What happened to the house? I think the house was washed away, the house is next to a stream. It could of been a fire but I don't think so. I also wonder if the current resident is the same or related to the owner of the house that was attached to the chimney?

This is what the owner sees when they pull into the driveway.

Make sure you take the time to watch the video below. Keep an eye out for the posts of Bodie and Mono Lake.
